Twelve community meetings took place throughout southeast Florida in June 2013 to mark the kick-off of the OUR FLORIDA REEFS community planning process. The meeting began with a 30-minute informational presentation about the Southeast Florida Coral Reef Initiative (SEFCRI) and the OUR FLORIDA REEFS community-driven planning effort to ensure healthy coral reefs in the southeast Florida region in the future. Following the presentation, community members were invited to walk through a number of interactive kiosks to learn more about southeast Florida’s coral reefs, ask questions, provide feedback, and learn how to get involved in the OUR FLORIDA REEFS  multi-year, community-driven process.
