The Our Florida Reefs Community Working Group (CWG) convened June 1st and 2nd for their final meeting! At this two-day meeting, CWG members finalized the language for all 68 of their Recommended Management Actions (RMAs) and succeeded in agreeing on a prioritization based on benefits to the coral reef ecosystem. The meeting was well attended by the public as well as the local news media, and contained an hour of public comment each day in which local stakeholders had the opportunity to address the group.
Congratulations and thank you to all who participated in the Our Florida Reefs Process. The final list of Recommended Management Actions aim to address a diverse range of local threats to our coral reefs. This comprehensive list of management recommendations is the product of a huge amount of careful work, local knowledge, and scientific review which has been years in the making. Please stay tuned for updates on RMAs as they move forward on a path toward implementation!
